Raffles Place Good Eats: Archipelago Brewery

Whenever we travel, we make it a point to pick up some bottles of Archipelago beers at Duty Free because they are so nice and easy to drink! Logong had been to their brewery bar behind Boat Quay @ Circular Road and always wanted to bring me; so after a hard day's work we decided to pop by last Sat.

At 7pm there was only another small group of Caucasians sitting at one of the high tables outside; I guess people would only show up much later -- unless you are having beer for dinner! :)

We ordered a Wheat ale (lime + pandan flavour) and a brown ale with gula Melaka (brown / palm sugar) - both regular, 350ml. Each reg cost us SGD14 less Happy Hour discount of SGD3.50 - still kind of pricey compared to say, Brewerkz. I'm surprised by the strong lime flavour of the Wheat because with beers, the bitterness usually overpowers the subtle (make it non-existent) fruit or whatever additional flavouring. The brown ale was pretty strong and nutty/smokey(?) so the gula Melaka was not very obvious; it has the highest level of bitterness, so imagine it without the gula! I'm never a good drinker so Logong had to finish most of my brown ale hehe :P
